On Wednesday, September 13, were glad to welcome our students back to class. After a visit to the campus the night before to find their temporary classrooms, our Lower and Middle School students quickly adjusted to the shift to the Upper School building. Meanwhile, our Upper School students settled in at the Houston Christian Assembly campus.
We have also planned another STE Community Workday for Saturday, September 16, from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. For lunch, we will serve pulled pork barbecue sandwiches, potato salad, fruit, and chips.
Students under 16 should be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. We are asking all volunteers to sign a liability waiver on their first day of volunteer work. We ask that all volunteers sign in and sign out as this helps with our FEMA records. The courtyard near Jackwood Street is our staging area for check in, supplies, food, and water.
If you are able to come, be sure to dress for dirty construction work. Adults doing skilled labor should wear sturdy shoes, safety goggles, and leather gloves. Students may wear tennis shoes and will be working in teams with supervision. You may bring your own tools, but please label them.
If you would like to help support Saturday’s volunteers, we are happy for donations of water, Gatorade, tangerines, bananas, cookies or brownies.
